NANCY TELFER is a prolific Canadian composer who has completed over 260 works for orchestra, band, choir, solo and chamber ensembles since 1979. Of these, over 73 have been commissioned by some of the following organizations: Pro Musica, CBC Mostly Music, University of Illinois Women’s Glee Club and Orchestra, Les Choristes, Ontario Choral Federation, and many others. Ms. Telfer is, above all, a singer’s composer, and a composer that is extremely sensitive to the needs of children’s voices. Her publications likewise reflect the needs of singers and those who work closely with them: Successful Sightsinging: A Creative Step-by-Step Approach, Books 1 and 2 (1992, 1993) and Successful Warmups, Books 1 and 2 (1995). In recent years, Telfer has edited a series of 90 pieces of music from different musical cultures and time periods for pedagogical use. Because of her intimate knowledge of the voice, she has been asked to speak to choral conductors throughout the world; she has been invited to Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea), Europe (England, Scotland, Germany, Russia, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Argentina, as well as various parts of the U.S. and Canada.
