Yvonne R. Dechance, University of New Mexico

YVONNE RENÉ DECHANCE is a music educator, performer and webpage designer. She holds a D.M.A. in Voice Performance and M.M. in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from The University of Texas at Austin, and the Bachelor of Arts from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington. She is a teacher of Voice and Opera History, an active performer and recitalist, and a member of several professional organizations including the National Association of Teachers of Singing and Mu Phi Epsilon. Yvonne has taught in Washington State, California, Texas, and North Carolina. Currently she teaches voice at her private studio in the San Francisco Bay Area, and runs Dechance Studios, a professional web design service. Dr. Dechance is particularly interested in combining music education and technology. Her projects include using hypermedia programming to create educational voice diction software, and she is the web-developer and co-author of The Diction Domain™ website. In addition, she enjoys creating technical and motivational speeches, presentations and articles and encouraging and assisting others to introduce web-based technologies into their professional lives and curricula. She recently published "The Music Educator's Personal-Professional Website" for the NATS InterNos, which includes an online companion tutorial (http://over.to/examples) to assist novices in the creation of "Personal-Professional" webpages.

Candace A. Magner, University of New Mexico

CANDACE MAGNER holds the B.S. in Music and Psychology from Indiana University and the M.M. in Vocal Performance and D.M.A. in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she studied with Barbara Doscher and Berton Coffin. She currently teaches voice and opera history at the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos. Magner is author of "Phonetic Readings of Brahms Lieder" and "Phonetic Readings of Schubert Lieder", a forthcoming article on Cecile Chaminade in Furore Verlag’s "Annaeherung X"(Portraits of Seven Women Composers) and is the co-author of The Diction Domain ©, a website devoted to singing diction sources and materials. Dr. Magner is active in the National Association of Teachers of Singing. She has held positions on the board for the Journal of Singing and was their reviewer of recorded music. She is on the advisory board for the InterNos newsletter. She is currently District Governor of NATS Great Plains District and is Auditions Chair for the Texoma Region, and is the author of the websites for Texoma Region and New Mexico chapter of NATS. She has sung with the Santa Fe Opera, the Desert Chorale and numerous regional theatre, opera and choral groups. She has served as diction coach to professional choirs and dialect coach for actors. In her spare time she enjoys travel and travelwriting, hiking, swimming, and gardening in her watergarden.
