Sheila MacKenzie Brown, Okanagan University College
SHEILA MACKENZIE BROWN is a teacher educator at Okanagan University College in Kelowna, B.C. working mostly in Music Education. She received her own teacher education in England where she taught high school music and physical education before emigrating to Newfoundland in 1972. While in Newfoundland she worked with a variety of school boards as a music teacher from Kindergarten to Grade 12, and as a Music and Art Coordinator at the school board level. While living in Newfoundland she took time out to complete a Master of Arts degree in Folklore from Memorial University, and a Master of Education degree in Music Education through the University of Victoria in B.C. Sheila has combined her interest in music with her interest in folklore, and enjoys studying folksongs from across the country. She also has a penchant for church bells and weather vanes.
