Charlene Morton, University of Prince Edward Island

CHARLENE MORTON is an Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Prince Edward Island where she teaches elementary school music education, ear training, music rudiments, and a variety of program electives. With interests in feminist theories, critical pedagogy, and multiculturalism, Charlene is currently doing research in citizenship education through music curricula, including the development of strategies addressing representation in school music and musicals. She has published in Music Education Research, Philosophy of Music Education Review, the Philosophy of Education Society Yearbook, and Feminism and Education: A Canadian Perspective. She continues to present papers at conferences in Canada and abroad. Before obtaining her M.Ed. (University of Western Ontario) and Ed.D. (OISE/University of Toronto), she taught elementary school music in Manitoba, Nova Scotia, and Ontario, and completed Kodály studies in Canada, the USA, and Hungary.
