Karen Frederickson, Queen’s University
KAREN FREDERICKSON, Ed.D. (Arizona State) is an Associate Professor of Music and Chair of Undergraduate Studies at Queen’s University, where she teaches music education courses, and conducts Polyhymnia, an ensemble of women’s voices. Karen is the co-author, with Murray Smith (Brandon University) of Sound Connections: Integrating Science and Music and has published articles in the Canadian Journal of Music Education, General Music Today, and the 1999 Garland publication, Preparing middle level educators: Practicing what we preach. She is also an accomplished soprano, formerly a member of the Edmonton Opera Association. At the International Phenomenon of Singing Symposium II in 1999, she presented a lecture/recital, with Mark Sirett, of songs by selected women composers of the 18th and 19th centuries.
