ELLEN MACISAAC graduated from University College Dublin in 2001 with a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology, specializing in Irish traditional music. Her research focussed on the Folk Boom of the 1960s and the traditional singing revival in Ireland, and on the context, constraints, and processes of composition of new songs in the traditional idiom. She is active as a singer and composer of songs in the Irish traditional idiom. Ellen currently works at the Department of Canadian Heritage.
