KEVIN D. SKELTON has had numerous experiences as a musician working concurrently as a professional tenor, conductor, and scholar. He is the founder and conductor of Vox aeterna, a winning ensemble in the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s Competition for Amateur Choirs, and a group that continues to explore a variety of repertoires for small ensemble. In 2002, Kevin made his Carnegie Hall debut conducting the Indiana University Children’s Choir, and was also selected as the apprentice conductor for the National Youth Choir of Canada. As a singer, Kevin has performed on five continents with a wide array of musical ensembles. In Toronto, Kevin has sung as a soloist with most of the major early music ensembles including the Toronto Consort, Toronto Chamber Choir, and Tafelmusik. Further afield Kevin, has performed with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra under Paul Hillier, the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart under Helmuth Rilling, and with the New Chamber Opera in England. An accomplished scholar, Kevin holds degrees in voice, conducting, and musicology having studied at The University of Toronto (Mus.Bac.), Indiana University (M.M.), and Oxford University (M.St.). The recipient of grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council, and awarded scholarships from all universities he has attended, Kevin is currently a doctoral student at Oxford University where he sings and assists with the New College Choir.
