Caroline Schiller, Memorial University of Newfoundland

CAROLINE SCHILLER is Assistant Professor of Voice and Director of Opera at Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada. She has a Doctor of Musical degree in Performance from Florida State University, a Master of Music degree from New England Conservatory (opera concentration and distinction in performance), and a Bachelor of Music degree from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, Canada. Caroline has appeared in opera and musical theatre, including her performance in the role of Christine in the original Toronto cast of Phantom of the Opera. Her concert work includes performances with the Boston Symphony Chamber Players and the Montreal Symphony. She has participated in the creation and performance of contemporary theatre works at the Banff Centre and the Dartington International Summer School, and was a vocal fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center. She is a former winner of the International Young Singer of the Year Award in Wales. Her research highlights the works of Canadian composers, in particular, the vocal works by women. She is the author of A performer's guide to works for soprano voice by Canadian women composers.
