Mary Lynn Morrissey, Luther College, Iowa

MARY LYNN MORRISSEY is a Visiting Instructor in Education at Luther College, serving as the Interim Director of Music Education. In this capacity, she teaches several classes, supervises student teachers, and advises the Future Music Educator's Association. She is also the new Director of Music Friends, the Northeast Iowa Youth Chorus. Mary Lynn graduated from Luther College in 1995 with a degree in music education. She received her master's degree in music from The University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1999 and is currently working toward a Ph.D. in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on music education. While working on her masters and doctorate, Mary Lynn worked for The University of Wisconsin developing and implementing curriculum for music education classes along with instructing undergraduate students in class, seminars, and field experience. Prior to that, she was a vocal and general music teacher at Central Middle School in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Mary Lynn was chosen to be a guest lecturer at The University College of Saint Martins in Lancaster, England, and designed lessons for elementary school children at Hornby Primary School in Hornby, England in May of 2000. Her research interests focus on the vocal health of teachers and she is currently conducting a study of the elementary general music teachers in Iowa.
