PAUL GUISE began his post-secondary music training at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, where he studied saxophone, voice, and composition (with a focus on electroacoustics) and received his B.Mus. in 1995. Paul pursued further studies in theory and composition at The University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, before completing his M.Mus. (choral conducting) at The University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta in 1999. In 2000 he completed his M.B.A. through the Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. Most recently, Paul was a faculty member in Performing Arts-Music at Red Deer College in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. Currently a Ph.D. student at The University of Kansas in Lawrence, Paul is also active as a writer, composer, clinician, audio producer, and photographer. Current areas of research interest include music business curricula; needs assessment and curricular integration; group dynamics of the musical ensemble; acoustics of singing, and other subjects related to the phenomenon of singing; and many aspects relating to small, unconducted vocal ensembles. Paul has presented papers in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom, has published reviews in The Canadian Folk Music Bulletin, and has recorded and edited three compact discs for various clients. He is currently on the editorial board of the International Journal for Research in Choral Singing.
