C. Jane Gosine, Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John's, NL

C. JANE GOSINE is an Assistant Professor in the School of Music at Memorial University of Newfoundland where she teaches courses in music history. Her principal research interests include the sacred music of the seventeenth-century French composer, Marc-Antoine Charpentier and his French contemporaries, the sacred music of English Renaissance composers, particularly that of Orlando Gibbons, and general issues related to performance practices of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. She grew up in Suffolk, England and then studied music at The University of St. Andrews. After completing a Masters degree and Doctorate degree at the University of Cambridge, she continued her research into the music of Marc-Antoine Charpentier as a Research Fellow at St. Edmunds College, Cambridge. Jane has worked as a musicological consultant with early music groups in Britain, Italy and the United States. Her work for early music ensembles has included devising programs of music by Charpentier, creating new music editions, writing program notes, and advising on issues related to performance practices of the period.
