Culture & Tradition: La Revue étudiante canadiennes de folklore et d’ethnologie / The Canadian Student Journal of Folklore and Ethnology

Culture & Tradition, founded in 1976 by graduate students from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador and Université Laval, annually disseminates works on diverse folklore topics in English or French. Currently, the journal is run by graduate students in Folklore and Ethnomusicology at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, publishing essays, reviews, research, autoethnography, and creative submissions related to culture and tradition from undergraduate, graduate students, and emerging professionals. Academic content comprises topics related to folklore studies, ethnology, social sciences, and arts and culture studies. Creative content includes visual arts, media arts, literary arts/scriptworks, music/music composition, multi- or interdisciplinary works, and documentation.

 

The editors of Culture & Tradition acknowledge the systemic oppression, exclusion, and tokenism present within the academic and art worlds, and strongly encourage submissions from equity deserving groups (including but not limited to Indigenous, racialized, queer and trans, disabled, minority language, and/or other marginalized and/or underserved communities). Moreover, they are committed to an accessible submission process. Contributors are welcome to submit proposals in audio format, by meeting with the editors in person, using a videoconferencing platform, or any other accommodations.
