Ardelle Ries, University of Alberta, Augustana Faculty, Camrose, AB

ARDELLE RIES completed her Doctor of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Alberta in 2004. Her principal conducting teachers include Dr. Leonard Ratzlaff and Dr. Debra Cairns (University of Alberta), Peter Erdei (Liszt Academy, Hungary), Katalin Kiss (Hungary), and Michel Marc Gervais (Canada). She has participated in conducting masterclasses with Anders Eby (Sweden), Eric Ericson (Sweden), Frank Battisti (USA), David Willcocks (England), Jean Ashworth-Bartle (Canada), Helmut Rilling (Germany) and Anne Howard-Jones (USA). Recently appointed director of Choral Activities at the University of Alberta, Augustana faculty, Ardelle holds an advanced musicianship diploma from the Zoltán Kodály Pedgagogical Institute in Kecskemét, Hungary. Ardelle has served as artistic director of the Schola Cantorum Choral programme at the Alberta College Conservatory of Music, co-artistic director for Da Camera Singers, and as interim conductor for the University of Alberta Madrigal Singers. Ardelle is in demand as a choral clinician, vocal pedagogue and ear-training specialist. Ardelle has been on faculty at the Kodály Conservatory in Kecskemét, Hungary, Wilfred Laurier University and the University of Calgary.
