Abstract

Choral singing is a collaborative activity which educates singers so as to make them more competitive in today's world.
People often judge or assess a choir by the way they sing, based on whether they like their voice or not. Rarely do they focus on the many other ways a member can contribute to the choir, as a whole.
In this regard, Kodály said that “Music is for everyone”, and during primary education music classes are usually focused on singing popular and traditional repertoires, since these songs are the ones closest to the singers. In this way, teachers ensure that music reaches all children.

Author Biographies

Rita Ferrer Miquel, Universitat de Girona

Rita Ferrer i Miquel ( Palafrugell ) is a choir director and teacher of Catalan music. She is the director and founder of the Escola de Música de Palafrugell (1967),  from the Coral Nit de Juny (1978) and the Coral Els Virolets (1983). She is a lecturer in the Master's Degree in Infant and Primary Education at the University of Girona .  She is the author of the doctoral thesis: The choral singing for children and young people educates in values, habits and competencies .

Ivet Farres i Cullell, Universitat de Girona

Ivet Farrés Cullell (Banyoles, 1991) is a teaching teacher of musical education at the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the University of Girona. She also works in the public school as a teacher of music in the stage of children and primary. She graduated in primary education, mentions music and has a Master's in Education and ICT (E-learning). She is currently doing his doctoral thesis in arts and education at the University of Girona.

She has organized and collaborated in several musical education days. She presented a paper at the International Congress "Singing and Song 2015", at St. John's Newfoundland and Labrador (Canada) and another at the "EduLearn 2016" International Congress in Barcelona.

She is a member of the "GREPAI" research group, doing research in arts, culture and heritage at the University of Girona.

Joan de la Creu Godoy Tomàs, Universitat de Girona

n 1996, he joined the Faculty of Education Sciences, currently the Faculty of Education and Psychology at the University of Girona, in the Department of Specific Didactics teaching teaching in the Master's Degrees in Musical Education.He is currently Professor Agregado.

Since joining the university, he has participated in numerous research and educational innovation projects as well as others related to folklore and popular music.

We emphasize the scholarship holders by the Department of Culture of the Generalitat on researches about the Work of the Popular Cançoner of Catalonia.

He is a member of the "GREPAI" Consolidated Research Group of the University of Girona.

He is the director of the Choir of the University of Girona who founded, together with Dr. Rita Ferrer, in 1998. With this Choir they have sung in Pisa, Bologna, Vigo, Tarragona, Granada, among other places. He has recorded three CDs in 2003, 2008 and 2015.
