A Rationale for World Music in the Choral Classroom

PETER DENNEE holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Music from Arizona State University, a Master of Music in Music Education from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Carthage College. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Music at West Virginia University. He has held similar positions at Susquehanna University, The University of Colorado-Boulder, and The University of Michigan. He is also Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church in Morgantown, West Virginia. Peter has placed a special emphasis upon performing the choral works of contemporary composers, and has premiered many pieces including The search unending, a 45-minute cantata based on the Biblical story of Abraham and Isaac composed by Simon Sargon. In addition to guest conducting appearances in the U.S., Peter has led critically acclaimed choral concerts in Paris, Prague, and several other European cities.
