Author Guidelines

Students submitting a paper to Mapping Politics will be required to follow the Style Guide employed by the Journal, a style also used by the Canadian Journal of Political Science.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. Papers submitted to Mapping Politics must be submitted in a Word document (*.doc) format. Other formats (pdf, rtf, wpd, etc.) will NOT be accepted.

  3. Mapping Politics employs embedded in-text (parenthetical or author-date) citations, with a list of references at the end of the article following endnotes. See the Style Guide for examples. Where available, URLs for the references should be provided.

  4. Submissions must be no shorter than 500 words and no longer than 8000 words. They should be single-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman, with margins of 2.5 cm on all sides of each page.

  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Mapping Politics Style Guide

  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
